Why choose soy wax?
Soy wax is a 100% natural wax that comes from the vegetable soybeans. Soybeans are the second largest crop grown in the USA behind corn. After the beans are harvested, they are cleaned, de-hulled and rolled into flakes. I purchase soybean wax flakes, melt them and add fragrance oils.
Soy wax is made from environmentally friendly renewable resources. The wax burns cleanly with no black streaking on the candle vessel or areas of your home. Soy wax burns slower than other waxes and gives a greater return on investment.
The most common wax for making candles is paraffin. Paraffin wax (petroleum wax) is derived from petroleum, coal or oil shale. In recent years the National Institute of Occupational Safety & Health has set recommendations for exposure limits to paraffin wax fumes.
Soy wax is renewable and so much healthier to your home environment. Soy candles have a more subtle scent throw. They are meant for smaller spaces and will not cast an overpowering scent throughout a large space.
